Edison Prep’s 16th Anniversary Ribbon Cutting and Office Rededication!
By Brian and Silvia Eufinger, Co-Founders, Edison Prep
Some of our first Edison Prep tutoring sessions happened at Panera tables. About 15 years ago, we moved into a 580-square-foot office in the same Sandy Springs complex we call home today. Six expansions later, we’re at 6,600 square feet. A big thank-you to Avila Real Estate for giving us the flexibility to grow a little at a time!
On November 5, we cut the ribbon on our expanded office and celebrated 16 years of Edison Prep. It meant a lot to look around and see our team, former students and their families, the Greater Perimeter Chamber, and friends from across the community. Thank you for being there, and thank you to the families who keep telling their friends and neighbors about us. You built this word-of-mouth business one referral at a time.
Why we started tutoring
Test scores helped us earn scholarships that paid for all of our college studies. We know firsthand what that can mean for a family, and it’s a big part of why we started tutoring. In 16 years, we’ve worked with 30,000 students from 40 states and 10 countries. We estimate that our students have conservatively saved more than $300 million on college through merit aid.
We’re grateful to have grown to a team of more than 20 terrific tutors, college graduates all, nearly all of whom teach full time, and many of whom had been tutoring for years before even applying to join our team. Together, they bring 180,000+ hours of test prep experience to the table and comprise a little under half of the full-time test prep professionals in the Atlanta area – it’s a small niche that’s mostly part timers and college kids! When a family calls, that gives us room to ask how their student learns, what goals they’re working toward, and what type of teacher they’ll click with.
In a field with plenty of national private-equity-run brands, we’re proud to be independently owned and based right here in Sandy Springs. Our founders and team members still sit for the official exams every year, scoring in the top 1% and often earning perfect scores. Taking the tests ourselves keeps us sharp, helps us hone our craft, and gives us fresh ideas for revising our curriculum. It also reminds us what it feels like to look up at the clock and realize how little time is left. And yes, we think still taking it the test is fun. A little nerdy? Okay, a lot nerdy.
Four free resources for families and schools
We’ve always prided ourselves on providing many free resources to the community, both for test prep, cutting the cost of college, and navigating the college admissions process. Here are a few of those resources:
- Podcasts and interviews: Hear our conversations about test prep, college admissions, and how to bring down the cost of college. Browse the Edison Prep “In the Press” page.
- Merit Aid Grids. Search our free national database for colleges that offer guaranteed merit scholarships based on published GPA and test score criteria. Explore MeritAidGrids.com.
- Free diagnostic SAT and ACT mock tests. Take a full-length mock in person or virtually on most weekends, then book a free strategy consultation if you’d like help deciding which test to pursue. See the mock test schedule.
- Free on-site mock test fundraisers. Last year, we helped more than 20 high schools raise nearly $20,000 for their PTSAs and PTOs while giving more than 1,000 students a clearer idea of whether to take the SAT or ACT. We run the mock test at no charge to the school. Ask us about hosting one!
If you’ve trusted us with your student, sent a friend our way, or played another role in our last 16 years, thank you! We’re so glad we got to celebrate with you.
Sincerely,
Brian and Silvia Eufinger and the entire team at Edison Prep
