About the Instructor:

Brian is hired by a 15+ school districts throughout the Southeast each year to do on-site ACT Bootcamps at high schools in GA, TN, AL, and FL. He is a nationally sought-after education expert who has appeared in outlets such as CBS MoneyWatch, The College Solution, ChooseFI and others on test prep and cutting the cost of college. ACT Class Structure and Description

Icon of a school building, featuring a simplistic structure with a central entrance and a small flag on top. The design symbolizes education, academic institutions, or learning environments.

The traditional school year class consists of 18 hours of classroom instruction, as well as two timed, graded mock ACT exams (a diagnostic mock test at the beginning, and a second mock ACT exam midway through the course). Students who do the best tend to do significant homework between the class and the actual test. Smaller bites of material each week allow students to keep their eye on the GPA prize while fitting in their ACT prep!

Icon of a sun, featuring a circular center with radiating lines symbolizing sunlight or warmth.

During the summer, to accommodate vacation, sports, and travel schedules, we do a flipped format summer class that is like attending school for several days. Students love being able to build the foundation and then commence practicing around other summer obligations.

Icon representing active engagement, featuring a person with an outstretched arm or energetic pose, symbolizing participation, enthusiasm, or involvement.

For our group classes, we keep classes engaging with two-way material, real-life examples, and short quizzes to test newly-learned concepts.

Icon depicting two parent figures, often representing family, guardianship, or parental support.

Parents are strongly encouraged to check in with their students weekly to monitor homework progress; each week’s homework assignment is uploaded to the website at the end of each class. All of our 300+ ACT classes throughout the years have seen the highest-improving student improve at least 6-9+ points more than the lowest-improving student, and homework volume/homework completion drives over 90% of that difference. Parents who make the homework “due to mom and dad” before each class are rarely not in the top 10% of score increase results.

Icon of a stopwatch symbolizing speed, with simplified, minimalistic design elements indicating quickness or efficiency. The stopwatch is stylized with motion lines to emphasize rapid timing or fast performance.

It is strongly recommended that students take the exam immediately following the course, while the material is fresh.

Icon of a calculator, featuring a simple, rectangular design with button-like elements representing keys, symbolizing calculations, finance, or mathematical functions.

We highly recommend that students bring a TI-84 model graphing calculator (specifically a TI-84 CE) to the ACT Class.

The optimal math strategies we teach for the math section are based on the TI-84 CE calculator because most high-scoring students use this calculator and because the TI-84 CE’s operating system has newer functionality that allows students who typically struggle with timing to move through certain questions much more quickly. If your student has a TI-83 or TI-84 Plus, but a younger sibling has the TI-84CE, please have him or her trade calculators with the younger sibling. There are many valuable features on the 84CE that are not on the 83 or 84 Plus that especially impact those in the 28-36 math score range. At a bare minimum, students should use a TI-83 or TI-84, and not a TI-30, TI-36, or the like. Those students who are unfamiliar with how to use a TI-84 should consider obtaining and begin familiarizing themselves with that calculator in advance of class beginning so that they can hit the ground running! Also, please note that the TI-89, TI-92, and TI NSpire CAS that some high schools recommend are actually prohibited on the ACT.

What to Bring:

Students need to bring a brown bag lunch, plus pencils and a calculator.

*Students are encouraged to utilize a TI-83 or TI-84 model calculator on the ACT (and SAT, for that matter). Additionally, the ACT prohibits certain models of the TI NSpire.
