GDOT Construction Detour Information

– Intersection of I-285 and Glenridge –

The Edison Prep office is just outside the perimeter near where Glenridge crosses under 285. As you likely have seen, GDOT is doing a large construction project at I-285 & 400. Occasionally on the weekends (and sometimes without notice!), the Feds will shut down a lane(s) on Glenridge, Johnson Ferry, or exit ramps on the route to our office. If you are coming to our office an encounter problems with a detour, we’ve created the following helpful directions based on where you’re coming from.

Because 99% of the traffic traveling on Glenridge Drive between Hammond and 285 is going to 285 (not our office), they put orange cones and signs out to make it look like the portion of Glenridge where our office is is closed off. It’s not closed. Simply continue onto Glenridge Drive since local traffic is allowed. How you get to the office on days they have a detour may change depending on where you’re coming from.

Specifically:

  • If you are someone who typically takes 285’s Glenridge Exit to get here, you will need to get off at Roswell Road instead (one exit earlier). Go north two blocks to Hammond, then make a right onto Glenridge to get to our office just south of Hammond. (Ignore the sign.
  • If you’re someone who typically comes west on Hammond, they have cones looking like Glenridge is closed. Ignore those cones and act like you’re going straight and just make a left when you get to the Hammond/Glenridge stoplight like normal. All is well.
  • If you’re someone who typically comes east on Hammond, just make your usual right turn like normal. Nothing changes!

If you normally come from Hammond Drive (e.g. Dunwoody, or from 400 Southbound getting off at Hammond, or East Cobb, et al) or other surface roads to the north of our office, there are likely never any GDOT impacts.
